Drug smugglers set fire to their own yacht to destroy cocaine, dramatic footage released by Spanish authorities shows.
In a video released by the Guardia Civil, the vessel was intercepted approximately 50 miles off the coast of the Canary Islands.
Authorities said that upon detection, the crew of the sailboat started a fire on the vessel, seriously injuring one of them, who had to be evacuated by maritime rescue.
Despite the fire, authorities recovered 25 kilos of cocaine.
Two crew members, who were French and Dutch nationals, have been arrested, Guardia Civil said.
