Queen carries out first official engagements since hospital stay

The Queen has carried out her first official duties since an overnight stay in hospital last week that forced her to miss a planned trip to Northern Ireland.

It was the first time in eight years that Her Majesty stayed overnight in a medical facility.

Last week a spokesperson for the palace said she "remains in good spirits" after returning to Windsor Castle on Thursday (21 October), and had been admitted to hospital for "preliminary investigations".
