Reporter chokes up live on air revealing family were among Gaza hostages

A journalist revealed live on air that two of his family were among hostages held in Gaza.

Though they were released on Friday 20 October, Martin Fletcher told MSNBC before that two members of his wife’s family had been kidnapped by Hamas.

The former NBC Tel Aviv bureau chief struggled to hide his emotions as he said that American citizens Judith Raanan and her 17-year-old daughter Natalie were taken while visiting family in Israel.

They were released as part of a deal brokered by Qatar and were handed over to the Israeli military, an IDF spokesperson said.
