MP defends ban on Maccabi Tel Aviv fans attending Aston Villa game

An MP has defended the decision to ban supporters of Israel’s Maccabi Tel Aviv from their Europa League match against Aston Villa at Villa Park on 6 November.
The ban was implemented by Birmingham City Council’s Safety Advisory Group and West Midlands Police due to public safety fears.
The move follows violent clashes between pro-Palestinian demonstrators and Israeli fans during a Uefa Europa League match involving Maccabi Tel Aviv last year.

Ayoub Khan, Independent MP for Birmingham Perry Barr, defended the ban, stating that Maccabi Tel Aviv should not be participating in the international competition.
