BAFTA Best Actor nominees revealed

The nominations for the 2026 Bafta Film Awards have been announced, with One Battle After Another Sinners, Marty Supreme and Hamnet leading the pack.

All the contenders were revealed by David Jonsson and Aimee Lou Wood at Bafta’s headquarters on Tuesday (27 January).

One Battle After Another led the nominations with 14 across all categories, followed closely by Sinners with 13. Marty Supreme and Hamnet picked up 11 nominations. There was also recognition for Frankenstein (eight) and I Swear (five), a biographical drama about John Davidson, a Scottish man with severe Tourette's syndrome.

This year’s announcement follows last week’s Oscar nods, which saw Ryan Coogler’s vampire drama Sinners surpass All About Eve, Titanic and La La Land’s 14 nominations to become the most-recognised film ever, with 16.

Paul Thomas Anderson is being hotly tipped to win Best Director, with his film, the caper One Battle After Another, a strong favourite to win Best Film. Last year’s ceremony awarded Edward Berger’s Conclave the top prize.
