Follow live coverage as Manchester City face AFC Bournemouth today in the Premier League. Another top-flight season will be covered in full right here with The Independent, as reigning champions Liverpool look to fend off competition from Arsenal, Manchester City and more.

The race for the Champions League places should also be a compelling battle, with a fifth place possible for English teams. Manchester United’s latest rebuild under Ruben Amorim sets expectations high once more after a dismal season last time out.

Meanwhile, it’s Burnley, Leeds United and Sunderland who made it back to the elite after promotion last year and each will have hope they can make it more than a one-year stay. Follow the latest live action from the Premier League below:

The full-time whistle sounds, as Manchester City return to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over high-flying Bournemouth at the Etihad! Already leading 2-1 at the break courtesy of Haaland's first-half double, City had to weather a storm of Bournemouth pressure early in the second half, as the visitors produced 0.72 xG with efforts from Semenyo, Kroupi and Brooks. The hosts had already racked up the bulk of their 2.21 xG, however, and added their third goal on the hour mark when Foden and O'Reilly combined for the left-back to send a clinical finish into the bottom corner. Further chances followed for Haaland, Foden, Marmoush and Reijnders as Pep Guardiola's side pushed the envelope, but no more goals came and a 3-1 advantage proved more than enough for Man City to climb from eighth to second in the Premier League table. Bournemouth drop down to fourth as a result of their first defeat since the opening day, but Andoni Iraola's side did show glimpses of exactly why they've been one of the form teams in the first 10 games of the new season.
