Brighton & Hove Albion beat a listless West Ham United 4-0 at home in the Premier League on Saturday in a one-sided performance to enhance their chances of qualifying for European competition next season.
Alexis Mac Allister, Joel Veltman, Kaoru Mitoma and Danny Welbeck were the scorers as Brighton dominated from start to finish.
Mac Allister’s first-half penalty was followed by an unusual finish off his chest from Veltman in the 51st minute.
Mitoma then turned the ball in at the back post 18 minutes later before substitute Welbeck hammered home on the stroke of fulltime as Brighton moved onto 38 points, one behind seventh placed Fulham, who have played two matches more.
West Ham remain in 16th spot, just above the relegation zone.

Brighton stay in eighth with that win, but they're now just three points behind Newcastle United in fifth. They travel to Leeds United next weekend. West Ham lose on the road once more, and it leaves them just two points above the relegation zone. Their attention now turns to the Europa Conference League round of 16 against AEK Larnaca on Thursday.

Brighton pile the pressure back on Moyes as they coast to a 4-0 win over West Ham. The hosts dominated from start to finish, and despite a slow first half, took a 1-0 lead into the break through Mac Allister's spot-kick. They upped the pressure after the break though, and Veltman scored their first goal from a corner this season, chesting in Mac Allister's flick-on. Mitoma then finished off a lovely team goal with a tap-in before Welbeck rounded off the performance by coming off the bench to pick out the bottom corner. It could've easily been more, and West Ham struggled to prove a threat throughout.

CLOSE! The crowd are chanting that they want five, and they almost get their wish! Gross drifts down the left before cutting inside, and when he realises he's not been tracked, he hits a low shot from the edge of the box, but it's just wide.
