The race for the Champions League places should also be a compelling battle, with a fifth place possible for English teams. Manchester United’s latest rebuild under Ruben Amorim sets expectations high once more after a dismal season last time out.

Meanwhile, it’s Burnley, Leeds United and Sunderland who made it back to the elite after promotion last year and each will have hope they can make it more than a one-year stay. Follow the latest live action from the Premier League below:

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Leeds United

The full-time whistle blows at the Amex Stadium as Brighton ease past Leeds United in a convincing 3-0 display. The hosts broke the deadlock in the 11th minute after Welbeck slotted into the bottom corner of the net after good work by Wieffer on the byline. The hosts almost doubled their lead shortly afterwards, but Welbeck saw his close-range effort fly narrowly past the left-hand post. The Seagulls started the second half with the same blistering intent as they did in the first half and were rewarded with a second goal after Gomez poked Minteh's low cross into an empty net from six yards out. Gomez got his second of the contest after Rutter won the ball from Bogle before cutting back to the Paraguay international who finished into the bottom-left corner of the net. The hosts created 14 shots in the game, reflected through an xG of 2.99, whereas the visitors struggled to create opportunities in the final third, highlighted through an xG of 0.46. The result sees Brighton climb to 8th in the Premier League table with Leeds dropping to 16th. Hurzeler's side will travel to Crystal Palace in their next league outing while Farke's side will face Nottingham Forest at the City Ground next Sunday. Thanks for reading and take care!
