Arsenal vs Crystal Palace
Arsenal hang on to win three crucial points and remain in top spot after a 1-0 victory at home to Crystal Palace. The Gunners were far from at their best, but Eze’s 39th-minute strike against his old team was enough to see them record a seventh consecutive victory in all competitions. Arteta’s men also picked up their fifth consecutive clean sheet against a Palace side which, for all of their positive signs on the front foot, failed to create a significant chance against the table-toppers. In fact, it was Arsenal who looked most likely to score the game’s second goal, when Gabriel met Rice’s cross before crashing a header against the crossbar five minutes after half-time. Guehi also snuffed out Trossard’s cross to prevent Saka from scoring a tap-in at the back post in the 58th minute, meaning Arsenal have conceded just three goals so far in the league after nine matches played. The Gunners finished with 1.08 xG to their name, compared to Palace’s 0.47. Arsenal now look forward to a EFL Cup meeting at home to Brighton on Wednesday, while Palace travel to Liverpool on the same night. That’s all from us for this one, thanks for joining!
