One quarter of the Kamala Harris nomination coverage included racist or sexist stereotypes

One quarter of the coverage following the announcement of Kamala Harris as Joe Biden’s running mate included racist or sexist tropes, according to a new report.

The report published by Time’s Up Now analysed three weeks of coverage surrounding Sen Kamala’s Vice President nomination. Sen Harris made history in becoming the first black woman and woman of South Asian descent on a major party's presidential ticket.

Notably, the report claimed that approximately a quarter of the coverage surrounding Sen Harris included racist and sexist tropes fueling the “angry black woman” stereotype and racist “birther” conspiracy theories.

Donald Trump has now turned his attention to Joe Biden’s townhall on NBC News Monday evening.

The president accused the network of given the Democratic presidential candidate “softball” questions.

Breaking: Dow drops more than 500 points as Trump halts Covid relief negotiations

The stock market saw an immediate drop-off on Tuesday after Donald Trump tweeted he was shutting down negotiations on another Covid-19 relief bill between the White House and congressional Democrats.

Within a matter of minutes, the Dow Jones industrial average dropped more than 500 points, from a daily high of over 28,350 to around 27,800.

The S&P 500 fell from a daily high of 3,430 to around 3,360.

Nancy Pelosi says White House is in complete 'disarray’ after ending coronavirus relief talks

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi released a statement on Tuesday following President Donald Trump’s tweet that said he ordered his aides to end coronavirus relief talks until after Election Day.

“Today, once again, President Donald Trump showed his true colours: putting himself first at the expense of the country, with the full complicity of the GOP Members of Congress,” her statement read.

“Walking away from coronavirus talks demonstrates that President Trump is unwilling to crush the virus … He shows his contempt for science, his disdain for heroes … and he refuses to put money in workers’ pockets, unless his name is printed on the check.”

She added the White House is “in complete disarray” based on this latest move by the president.

Biden tests negative for Covid-19

The Biden campaign alerted the press pool on Tuesday that the former vice president took another coronavirus test earlier that day. 

His results were again negative, the campaign said. 

Mr Biden has undergone multiple Covid-19 tests since it was announced that President Donald Trump tested positive last Thursday. it was not known if the president has Covid-19 during last Tuesday’s presidential debate. 

The former vice president is scheduled to speak in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, later on Tuesday. 

Half of Fox News viewers believe climate crisis is caused by natural changes, not human activity

Around half of Fox News viewers think the climate crisis is caused by natural changes in the environment and not driven by human activities, according to a new study by Yale University.

The analysis, published on Tuesday, reveals the climate change views of American adults who regularly tune in to each of the major US news networks - CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, NPR, the Weather Channel, along with the national nightly news on CBS, ABC or NBC.

One in four people who watch Fox News (25 per cent) think global warming isn’t happening but more than half (53 per cent) agree that it is.

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden delivered what could well be remembered as the signature speech of his 2020 campaign so far, calling on Americans to ditch the fierce partisanship that has gripped the nation during the Donald Trump era and “turn division into unity.”

Trump ‘turned his back’ on Covid relief for Americans, says Biden

Joe Biden responded to Donald Trump pulling out of Covid relief negotiations earlier today, saying families struggling don’t matter to the president.

“If you are out of work, if your business is closed, if your child’s school is shut down, if you are seeing layoffs in your community, Donald Trump decided today that none of that – none of it – matters to him,” Biden said.
