From Mr Terry Wynn, MEP Sir: After all the fuss in Westminster about increasing EU own resources from a ceiling of 1.2 per cent of GNP to 1.21 per cent gross national product for 1995, may I give your readers some relevant information? This Wednesday (15December) the European Parliament will vote through the second reading of the EU Budget for 1995. The final amount will come to 75.94 billion Ecu, which is only 1.175 per cent of the EU's GNP.

John Major would have been saved a lot of bother had Kenneth Clarke forewarned him of this! Yours faithfully, TERRY WYNN MEP for Merseyside East (Lab)
