From Mr Martin Rosenbaum

Sir: Andrew Belsey thinks wrong when he regards Andrew Marr's use of adjective as adverb (Letters, 7 July) as a case of political discourse emulating sporting discourse. In fact this is a traditional feature of political language. Mr Belsey, I assume, does not recall the 1983 general election, when millions of leaflets were distributed bearing the slogan "Think positive, act positive, vote Labour".

Yours faithfully,

Martin Rosenbaum
