Sir: I hope Emily Green ("A small heresy for Lent: avoid cod, eat beef", 17 February) is aware that a succession of Ministers of the Crown have assured us that beef is safe and there is no conceivable risk to human health from BSE. That, in itself, should sure be enough to make us look for other alternatives to over-fished cod.
