HOW interesting that Katharine Hamnett is to revive 'the elegant raffishness' of the Teddy boys but overlooks the need to press the pair of trousers worn by the model on the cover of the Sunday Review (11 September). Any genuine Teddy boy would not be seen in public without having first pressed his trousers to create knife-edge creases. Teddy Boys were very aware of what created sartorial elegance, which is quite different from the grunge images of today or those who wear jeans everywhere to create an image that they have just vacated the driving seat of the local refuse lorry.
