Letter: Parents are right to protect their children

Letter: Parents are right to

protect their children

I DISAGREE with Frank Furedi's assertion that "the explosion in discovery of so-called hidden syndromes" leads to parents becoming more fearful for their children. I feel the opposite is the case.

Many parents just want to know what their child is going through. If they can understand the behaviour patterns of their child then they will be better able to come up with measures to reduce the difficulties their child is facing.

To offer a single solution is not the right approach. Every child is different and a more individual approach is needed to enable each to move forward.
