Sir: Reading Oliver Gillie's report ('Sex therapy for man who fell in love with the family car', 7 December), I was reminded of the memorable couplet used in France in the mid-Eighties to advertise the object of 'George's' desire:

Je me plait trop

Dans mon Austin Metro

I failed to realise at the time that this was yet another manifestation of the French penchant for eroticism.
