Letter: Jokes supporting status quo

IT IS not a question of whether Robert Newman and David Baddiel ('It must be the way they tell 'em', 12 December) are funny. Rather it is that although they appear to come from a tradition of alternative comedy their jokes invariably support the status quo.

To put it another way, they can fill Wembley Stadium where John Major cannot. But the effect is the same.
