SIR PETER Ustinov is unfortunately wrong about America being the first country where democracy might be destroyed by democratic means. ("The old man and the scenery", 29 November). It happened in Germany some time ago, when Hitler used his position as chancellor to destroy the very democracy that had put him there. And much else besides.
