Baby blues
It's enough to make you throw the toys out of the pram. Scientists claim to have proved that, far from being moral blank canvases, infants come complete with prejudices as standard. Apparently they favour what are commonly considered more attractive faces from the day they are born. Beauty is not in the eye of the beholder but in the eye of the baby. Which is rather depressing, considering that physical beauty is a shallow thing and, as Shakespeare put it: "In nature there's no blemish but the mind; None can be called deformed but the unkind." But it's not all bad for babies - at least they've got plenty of time to grow out of it.
