Talking telephone numbers.

The news that Britain is to undergo yet another change in telephone codes will be scoffed at by the French, who this autumn will add an extra regional code to their telephone numbers - the first change for over a decade, compared with three in eight years in Britain. But for the traveller who likes his or her numbers uncrunched, the Vatican City remains the favourite point on the dial, with a single number for the entire nation: 00 39 66982.
