Whale shark season starts at the beginning of February in Kenya. The world's largest shark – harmless to humans – can be spotted at dive sites around Malindi and Watamu until March (magicalkenya.com).

And luxury spa brand Six Senses opens its first resort in Jordan at the end of February. It is set in a ravine 264m below sea level, near the Dead Sea (sixsenses.com).
