The Italian airline Meridiana (071-839 2222) has cut fares on its Gatwick to Florence and Verona services. From 1 November, return fares to Florence start at pounds 170 and to Verona at pounds 160. These fares must be booked within seven days of departure and require a minimum stay of one Saturday night, and a maximum of 14 days. The airline is also offering car hire deals.
