Policeman caught staring in awe on Henman Hill during Novak Djokovic vs Roger Federer final
Even the strict Wimbledon security couldn't look away from a thrilling second-set tie-break
It's the famous saying: you only had one job.
The problem is that the job in question is looking after the safety of the nation, so when a policeman was caught staring in shock at the live coverage of the Wimbledon men’s singles final between Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer, fans didn’t take too well to the footage.
With a packed Henman Hill behind him, the policeman stood hands over mouth in awe of the final as Federer saved five set-points to win the second-set and level the match with a 12-10 tiebreak.
To cut him some slack, the second set was one to behold, as the seven-time Wimbledon champion fought back valiantly to offer hope that a historic eighth title was on the cards. Sadly for the swiss, it wasn’t as Djokovic asserted his domination to win the next two sets and with it a second consecutive Wimbeldon title and a third of his career.
However, if there was one series of pictures to sum up the match, it was undoubtedly those of the policeman.
For Federer, the search for another Wimbledon title stretches to four years after defeat to Djokovic, and leaves him searching for an 18th grand slam title having last one a major tournament at Wimbledon in 2012.
Djokovic meanwhile moves on to nine grand slam wins, putting him an outright eighth in the all-time winners’ list ahead of such legendary names as Fred Perry, Jimmy Connors, Ivan Lendl and Andre Agassi.
