Murray cruises to Metz semi-final
Andy Murray breezed into the semi-finals of the Moselle Open in Metz yesterday with an impressive straight-sets win over Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
The third seed progressed through the quarter-final 6-3, 6-3 in just over 1 hour and 13 minutes.
The Scot broke his French opponent three times in the first set and conceded only one break point on his own serve – though that was enough for Tsonga to delay his march.
The second set was much tighter, but the British No 1 needed only one break point to send him on his way to victory. Murray will now face the second seed, Guillermo Canas, in the last four in what could be a dress rehearsal for Great Britain's Davis Cup World Group encounter with Argentina next year.
Andy Murray had moved into the quarter-finals following a routine, straight-sets victory over Michael Llodra on Thursday.
