Super League waits for court's verdict

Super League on both sides of the world will learn more today about the extent of the damage inflicted by the Australian court ruling upon it.

The formal court orders in the case between Super League and the Australian are now expected today, after a delay of 24 hours at the request of both sets of lawyers. Those orders will determine whether Super League can kick off in Australia as planned this weekend, pending an appeal against Mr Justice Burchett's ruling that it is unlawful, and could reveal the extent of the damages the ARL can expect.

Super League has been bolstered by the attitude of the players who have aligned themselves with it. Four leading clubs - Auckland Warriors, Brisbane Broncos, Western Reds and Canterbury - are pledging their allegiance to the rebel organisation and emphasise they will not return to the ARL.

The British 's chief executive, Maurice Lindsay, has threatened legal action to protect the World Club Championship and the Australian tour that are both scheduled to take place at the end of the first European Super League season.
