Jim Leighton, the 41-year-old former Scotland goalkeeper, has been awarded a testimonial match, scheduled for next year, by Aberdeen.

Mario Basler, the Bayern Munich midfielder, will be out of action for up to six weeks because of a knee injury. Basler tore a ligament in his left knee in a friendly between Bayern and Nuremberg of the Second Division last Friday.

Armenia will be without five important players for their European Championship Group Four qualifier against France tomorrow. The game is vital for France as they are fourth in their group and in danger of not qualifing for next year's competition.
