The English Cricket Board are to step up their efforts to remove racism from the game. The sport's governing body have drawn up a mission statement, setting out their aims to ensure equal opportunities. And one of the ECB's targets is to "establish action plans to combat racial disadvantage and discrimination".

England Under-19 have a first-innings lead of 68 against an Auckland Emerging Players XI after the second day in Wellington yesterday. The tourists began the day on 66 without loss in reply to the hosts' total of 209 and looked set for a big score after the openers Ian Flanagan (93) and Michael Gough (73) put on 153. However, after Charles Haywood was trapped lbw for 24, England were 222 for 4. They then lost their last six wickets for 55 runs.
