Herbie Hide will make his first defence of his World Boxing Organisation heavyweight title against the American Dick Ryan at Rivermead Leisure Centre, Reading, on 7 March.

Pernell Whitaker's suspension for alleged cocaine use was lifted yesterday by the World Boxing Associaton, who ruled that a positive test result for cocaine after the welterweight's defeat of Andrei Pestriaev on 17 October was invalid.
