MARINA SHMONINA, a member of the Russian women's 100 metres relay team at the world indoor championships in Toronto in March, has tested positive for a banned anabolic steroid and has been suspended for four years pending a hearing by her national federation. If the result is confirmed the Russian team will lose their gold medals and the title will be awarded to the runners-up, Jamaica.
