MANCHESTER UNITED will announce a profit of more than pounds 5m to their shareholders at their annual general meeting on 20 November. United's profit for the last financial year, ending in July, was pounds 5,056,000. The directors have appropriated pounds 250,000 to the transfer fee reserve and the balance of pounds 1,172,000 from profits after taxation has been retained.
BIRMINGHAM CITY have signed the Canadian international striker, Paul Peschisolido, from Toronto Blizzard for pounds 25,000 following a month's trial.
UEFA yesterday admitted Feyenoord's John de Wolf should not have been sent off for violence during a European Cup- Winners' Cup tie last week. Uefa's statement said de Wolf's team-mate, Henk Fraser, should have been dismissed in the second-round first-leg tie against Lucerne which the Swiss side won 1-0. Fraser, who had earlier been booked for dissent, has been banned for three games.
