Stuart Hogg named Six Nations player of the championship for second consecutive year

Scotland full-back Stuart Hogg has won the RBS Six Nations player of the championship award for the second year running.

Glasgow star Hogg secured almost a quarter of the public voting for the award, becoming just the second player to land the gong twice.

Former Ireland centre Brian O'Driscoll landed the accolade in both 2006 and 2007, and Hogg has now clinched back-to-back awards thanks to a string of eye-catching attacking performances.

"To receive this award again is an absolute honour, particularly when you take other players on the shortlist into account," said Hogg.

"I'm delighted to be awarded the RBS player of the championship trophy and would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who voted and the fans for their continued support throughout the championship."

Ireland flanker CJ Stander came second, amassing almost 15 per cent of the votes, while France number eight Louis Picamoles came third.

Accenture had drawn up a final shortlist of 12 players, from which the public could then select their winner.
