Wasps sign Haughton from Saracens

Pa

Wasps have announced the signing of wing Richard Haughton from their Guinness Premiership rivals Saracens.

Haughton, 29, has agreed a two-year deal and moves to Wasps following a Saracens career which saw him make more than 160 first team appearances.

He was also a member of England's 2006 Commonwealth Games silver medal-winning rugby sevens squad and won additional representative honours at England A, under-21 and under-18 levels.

Wasps rugby director Tony Hanks said: "Richard is a top-quality player who is equally comfortable at wing and full-back, and he brings with him a host of experience in the game.

"Richard has a huge desire to play at the highest level, and his 10 years with Saracens, combined with his impressive records on the sevens circuit, make him a very valuable addition to the squad."

Haughton added: "For me, it is the right time for my next challenge, and the Wasps set-up is one which players seem to really respond to."
