Exeter will face a disciplinary hearing next Wednesday to answer a charge of breaching Aviva Premiership competition regulations.
The Chiefs' case will be a heard by a joint Rugby Football Union-Premiership Rugby panel comprising RFU disciplinary officer Judge Jeff Blackett, RFU board director Jonathan Dance and Premiership Rugby chief executive Mark McCafferty.
Exeter have admitted to fielding too many overseas players in a Premiership game against Leeds Carnegie earlier this month.
Premiership clubs are only allowed to include two players from outside of Europe, Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific islands in their 23-man match-day squads.
The Chiefs face being docked league points for naming three overseas-registered players for the Leeds match, although any such punishment would be unlikely to have a major effect on their debut Premiership campaign.
Exeter are currently ninth in the table with two league fixtures left, 15 points above bottom club and relegation favourites Leeds.
