The Hunter Mariners will meet the Brisbane Broncos in the inaugural Visa World Club Challenge final at the Ericsson Stadium on Friday.

The Mariners, who are in danger of being wound up, earned their trip to Auckland with a try four minutes from time to upset Cronulla 22-18 at Shark Park on Saturday.

The Mariners, who beat Wigan in the quarter-final, made a strong start to lead 6-0 after seven minutes but the favourites led 18-12 midway through the second half.

Brett Kimmorley second try and Kevin Iro's goal brought them level before Nick Zisti went over for the winning score.
