Racing: Nunthorpe juveniles

THE TRAINER Jack Berry wants to let his two-year-old Speedy James take on older rivals in the Nunthorpe Stakes at York on Thursday but still has to convince the colt's owner to go for the Group One sprint.

However, Bryan McMahon is committed to running his juvenile Perugino Bay. McMahon is hoping for the best from Perugino Bay, winner of a nursery at York last month.

Both trainers will saddle older horses, with Berry full of hope King's Stand Stakes winner Bolshoi can put a poor run at Chester behind him. McMahon hopes his Palace House Stakes winner Yorkies Boy can also bounce back from a modest effort at Chester.

William Hill make John Dunlop's July Cup winner Elnadim the 6-4 favourite.
