Racing: Littlefeather another marvel from Marwell
LITTLEFEATHER, in possession of one of the best pedigrees in the studbook, will try to uphold family honour in the highest company after completing a hat-trick in scintillating fashion at Chester yesterday.
The daughter of the high-class sprinter Marwell is set to be pitted against some top juveniles when she moves up to Group One company to tackle the Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh on 5 September.
She earned the right to take on more taxing opposition after trouncing her six rivals in the Combermere Fillies' Stakes - a contest won 12 months ago by the subsequent 1,000 Guineas heroine Wince.
Sent off the 5-4 favourite, Littlefeather quickened in fine style in the home straight when asked the question by Seb Sanders and at the line was five lengths clear of Rythm N Time.
With some decent yardsticks in arrears, the performance suggested that Littlefeather, trained by Sir Mark Prescott, would already hold her own in Group-race company.
Owner-breeder Sir Edmund Loder said: "She has all the acceleration of her mother. She'll go for the Moyglare. We wouldn't want it too soft."
