The Italian Automobile Club yesterday called off the Italian Grand Prix at Monza in September because of what it believed to be inadequate safety measures. It said that new safety measures proposed by the sport's governing body, the FIA, after the deaths of Ayrton Senna and Roland Ratzenberger in the San Marino Grand Prix at Imola were inadequate.
