Higgins sneaks past McManus

John Higgins defeated Alan McManus 6-5 in yesterday's all- Scottish German Open semi-final in Frankfurt. Higgins, the world No 11, will play either Stephen Hendry or Ken Doherty for the pounds 40,000 first prize today. Higgins, who has now completed four successive victories over McManus this season, said: "It was a struggle all the way but things did liven up a bit at the end."
