Wigan have won the chase for Bradford's promising back-row forward John Bateman.

The 20-year-old England academy captain, who had been targeted by several Super League clubs, has signed a three-year contract with the champions, with an option to extend the deal for a fourth season.

Bateman still had two years remaining on his contract with Bradford, and the Bulls said they released him after he submitted the latest in a series of transfer requests.
