The Rugby Football League has denied any part in a cover-up of the doping scandal that saw Hull's Martin Gleeson banned for 18 months.

Two former Hull employees, chief executive James Rule and fitness conditioner Ben Cooper, were suspended for their part in the affair, but Gleeson claimed senior figures at the League were also implicated. The RFL's chief operating officer, Ralph Rimmel, said: "The governing body acted entirely appropriately. There was no evidence that anyone at the RFL was complicit in the giving of false evidence."
