Ban threat to Tickle after Hornet is 'kicked'

An incident that enraged Bobbie Goulding, the Rochdale Hornets coach, is to go before a League disciplinary hearing tonight.

Goulding was shown a red card two minutes from the end of the Challenge Cup tie against Hull on Sunday after he protested that one of his players, Dave Newton, had been kicked while on the ground by Danny Tickle. The Hull player could face a four-match ban if found guilty.

Peter Sharp, the coach of Hull – who won 42-5 – was critical of Rochdale's approach to the game, calling it "out of control". The League must also decide if an unnamed Lezignan player should face a charge of gouging in the tie at Whitehaven. The home side's Gary Broadbent said fingers were stuck in his eyes.
