Racegoers were denied the chance to view the rising chasing star Racing Demon when he was pulled out of his race at Ludlow yesterday. The news, when announced, drew sighs of dismay from the large crowd.

His trainer, Henrietta Knight, spoke over the course's public-address system: "It takes five minutes to ruin a horse and years to get one up the ladder. I feel awful for the people who have come here to see him."
