Sir Chris Hoy, the most successful British Olympian of all time, announced his retirement today with a tally of six gold medals and one silver. The Edinburgh native, who was inspired to take up cycling after watching Steven Spielberg's E.T. has had his part in a lot of Team GB's glory ever since his first medal in Sydney 2000.
