Britain's dominance of track cycling continued when the women's pursuit team set a world record and the men's quartet posted the second-fastest time ever in the Manchester round of the World Cup.

The women's trio of Joanna Rowsell, Wendy Houvenaghel and Lizzie Armistead beat Germany in the final of the first round of the World Cup in 3min, 21.875sec. In the men's 4,000-metre final, Britain outraced Spain in 3:54.395, a time bettered only by the British quartet at the Beijing Olympics in 3:53.14.

Earlier, Chris Hoy won his third gold of the weekend when he led his three-man team to victory in an all-British sprint final.
