England vs Japan Women’s World Cup player ratings: Ellen White and Georgia Stanway shine in win
We run the rule over the Lionesses after their win over Japan
Ellen White struck twice as England beat Japan 2-0 at the Women’s World Cup in France.
The comfortable victory sees England top Group D, with Japan also progressing to the knockout stages as group runners-up.
White broke the deadlock early into the match, beating two defenders and sliding a wonderful finish beyond the excellent Ayaka Yamashita.
And, after a sustained period of Japanese pressure, White made sure of the win with another fine finish, late into the second-half.
It is the first time the Lionesses have won their first three matches at a Women’s World Cup.
