Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Manchester United: Striker's agent 'agrees personal terms', according to reports

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has agreed personal terms with Manchester United and is set to hold talks with Jose Mourinho, the club’s new manager, according to reports.

The Sweden international, who will captain his country at this summer’s European Championships in France, played his last game for Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season ahead of the expiration of his current contract later this month.

Ibrahimovic enjoys a friendly relationship with Mourinho and, according to The Guardian, his agent, Mino Raiola, has agreed on prospective salary for his client with Old Trafford officials.

The deal now reportedly rests on Ibrahimovic receiving assurances from Mourinho that he will be central to his plans next season. At 34-years-old, the striker does not wish to spend the last few years of his career as a backup player.

Raiola’s potential fee for completing the deal must also be negotiated and, according to The Guardian’s report, talks on that matter will not commence until at least next week.

Ibrahimovic has been relatively open about his future in recent weeks, admitting that he had decided which club he would like to join on several occasions.

On Wednesday, he told reporters that he would reveal his intended destination once he is bored of reading the media’s speculation.

"I want you to write your stories so I will be entertained because I want to hear who can make the best story. When I'm tired of it, I'll let you know where I am going," he said.

Mourinho, who was appointed as United's new manager last week following the dismissal of Louis van Gaal, is keen to remould the club's squad and bring in new additions this summer.

The Portuguese coach is believed to want a new centre-back, a central midfielder with leadership qualities, a right winger and a centre-forward.

Ibrahimovic, who worked under Mourinho during their spell together at Internazionale in 2008/09, would be seen as a marquee signing.

The Swede finished top of Ligue 1’s scoring charts for the 2015/16 season, notching 38 goals in 23 for the league champions.
