James Milner is playing a waiting game with Manchester City until the end of the season before making a final decision on his future.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is a keen admirer of the England midfielder's talents and is looking for a replacement for LA Galaxy-bound Steven Gerrard in the summer.

According to the Daily Mail, Milner has grown frustrated with rumours linking him with a switch to Anfield - but remains open to the possibility of leaving City.

His contract with the Premier League champions expires in June while his future has been shrouded in uncertainty since contract negotiations stalled in December.

Speaking about the former Aston Villa star, Manuel Pellegrini said: "Milner is a phenomenon, a guy with big balls and a heart this big.

"I hope he stays. If he doesn’t, it will be because there’s an important offer."

Despite his manager's kind words, Milner has made just 13 Premier League starts this term and wants more regular football.
