Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho on Blues deals: 'The transfer window is over'

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has said his transfer window 'is over' in a statement undoubtedly designed to cast fresh doubt over his move for Everton defender John Stones.

The 52-year-old is believed to be plotting a third offer in the region of £30m for the England international in the coming days while a move for Augsburg youngster Baba Rahman is reportedly nearing its conclusion.

But Mourinho, talking to talkSPORT, insisted: "The transfer window is over. I don't like the transfer window when the competition starts after tomorrow, I don't like transfer window during the competition."

When quizzed whether the Premier League champions could yet sign some new players before the close of the window, the Portuguese boss replied: "I know the transfer window is open.

"I know that my club is able to buy or to sell – every club can buy or can sell in this moment – but I don't like that feeling. As a football coach, thinking about my players, my squad and my coaching role, I don't want to think about the transfer window.

"What happened, happened, but I'm not going to lose one minute of my time to think about transfer window, I have to think about how to get the best out of my players, and that's what I am doing now."
