Tottenham blow as Ledley King faces surgery

Pa

Tottenham defender Ledley King could face surgery after suffering another groin problem in training yesterday.

The injury-prone 30-year-old, out since October with a groin complaint, had looked close to a return to action but came unstuck towards the end of a rigorous training session yesterday and may now go under the knife.

Quoted in several newspapers, Spurs manager Harry Redknapp said: "Ledley was playing great and then, with the last kick of the morning, did his groin again.

"We've been deciding if he needs an operation or not, so we've been pushing him a bit. He'll have to talk to the medical people now to make that decision."
