Solskjaer feels the lure of home

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may leave Old Trafford next summer and end a 15-year relationship with Manchester United if his former club Molde can entice him home to be their manager.

Solskjaer said last month that if he is to manage United one day he would need to "go somewhere else and learn [the] trade", and Molde's chairman, Erik Berg, has confirmed the club have been in touch with Sir Alex Ferguson's reserve team coach. The 37-year-old has been offered substantial funds to strengthen the side, according to sources in Norway.

The current coach, Uwe Rösler, has kept the club in the the Norwegian Tippeligaen – the country's top flight – but made it clear that he wishes to return to his Manchester base next summer.

Solskjaer remains the Norwegian club's most legendary figure and United's strong links with Molde – which saw the signing of Mame Biram Diouf last year – could strengthen Solskjaer's notion of a move home being part of a preparation to manage at Old Trafford one day.
